Epic Thanks Los Angeles
Friday, November 4, 2011 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM (PDT)
Epic Thanks is a global celebration of gratitude and giving in honor of radical visionaries who create hope in our world.
This special event will honor one such visionary, Tanzanian Epic Change fellow Mama Lucy Kamptoni, a woman who once sold chickens & used what she earned as the seed money to build a school in her village - a school that now serves over 500 children and is consistently ranked among the finest in her area. Mama Lucy will travel from Tanzania to attend the event, and will bring with her two students, Leah Albert & Gideon Gidori, who will be visiting the US (and leaving their country) for the very first time.
You can help welcome Mama Lucy, Leah & Gideon to your city by RSVPing here and purchasing your tickets on Eventbrite. We'll be choosing where their journey will lead based on your interest.
The Los Angeles event will take place at the W Hollywood.
Friday, November 4, 2011 7:30pm - 9:00pm PST
If you're anywhere nearby, we hope you'll RSVP to join us, even though we're honestly not yet sure what these get-togethers might look like. We're aiming for small, intimate, kid-friendly gatherings where we can authentically engage in conversation. Perhaps we'll meet over a potluck in some local living room, in a college dormitory, or on a city tour. Maybe we'll gather to share the kids first American hamburger at a local diner, walk through a park together or go bowling. Whatever it is, we hope you're there.
Funds raised will benefit Epic Change, a US nonprofit that is currently investing in the construction of Mama Lucy's secondary school to ensure that students who have recently graduated have a place to continue their education in Mama Lucy's loving care.
Join us as we give thanks to Mama Lucy, and countless changemakers like her, who make our world a better place by pouring their hearts into the future we share.
